Bowdoin’s Jon Landry is getting a shot at the NHL

Jon Landry, a 2006 Bowdoin graduate, has been called up to the Islanders’ training camp from the Islanders’ AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. It’s been a long and windy road, with stops in Arizona, Germany, Scotland, Connecticut, and points in between, but Landry is getting ever closer to realizing the NHL dreams embodied in the two-way contract he signed with the Islanders last year. He is one of 10 defensemen contending for 8 or so slots on the Islanders. Landry was a forward and then a high-scoring defenseman for Bowdoin, who achieved all-American status as a senior. He played forward initially during his pro career but eventually switched back to defense, where he has thrived.
