Former Bowdoin goalie is Mitt Romney’s wing man

Sunday’s New York Times offers a glowing portrait of former Bowdoin goalie Bob White, who is now serving as Mitt Romney’s “wing man.” He played for a very excellent Bowdoin team in the mid-1970s that won back-to-back ECAC D2 championships in 1975 and 1976 back when the ECAC D2 was a very strong conference that included a number of schools that are now D1. White was in net for Bowdoin’s win over Merrimack in the championship game in 1975. He now chairs the Bowdoin board of trustees and was heavily involved in fund raising for the new Bowdoin rink. After Bowdoin, he earned an MBA at Harvard and soon after graduation from Harvard went to work for Romney at Bain Capital. The rest is history. A good guy from all accounts but hope he doesn’t make it to Washington!!
