Nov 22, 2011, OCC games

A full slate of OCC games:

Amherst 8 Westfield State 1 (Nathan Corey gets the rare start in net but it is a bit of a rocking chair evening as he  only faces 12 shots and Amherst totally dominates the Westfield Owls, outshooting them by the extraordinary margin of 54-12; several Jeffs have productive evenings on the scoring sheet with Johnny Van Siclen registering a hat trick and an assist for a 4-point night; Mark Colp does the mirror image with a 1-3-4 stat line; Dylan Trumble scores 2 goals which Mike Moher has a 3-point evening (1-2-3); you have to be a truly devoted Amherst fan to watch the Westfield webcast as the audio quality was the worst; great smoke-and-mirrors effect as the loud music and crowd noise re-transmitted over Westfield’s webcast were the product of a small crowd (150 attendees))

Hamilton 3 Cortland 1 (Hamilton jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead less than 2 minutes into the game and then dominates Cortland, outshooting them 38-24; Joe Quattrocchi continues to excel in net for the Continentals, saving 23 of the 24 shots he faced, and may be the answer to one of Hamilton’s biggest weaknesses)

Bowdoin 10 UNE 2 (3-point (2-1-3) nights for both Tim McGarry and Kyle Lockwood; Jordan Lalor also pots 2 goals; Steve Messina gets the start in net and acquits himself well, saving 16 of 17 before giving way to Connor Shannon late in the 3rd period; Polar Bear line-up is quite different from the one that faced Middlebury, with 6 new faces and 7 frosh taking regular shifts and racking up 9 points among them)

Colby 7 USM 4 (new Colby head Coach Stan Moor nails down his first victory; Colby breaks open a 3-3 tie game with 2 goals in 24 seconds early in the 3rd period and then adds 2 more before USM adds a last-minute goal for the final score of 7-4; junior Matt Delaney gets his third consecutive start in net for the Mules)

Curry 5 Tufts 4  (Garrett Sider ties it for Tufts on an extra attacker goal with 34 seconds to go in the 3rd period but it is for naught as Curry scores the game winner in OT, handing Scott Barchard his first loss in net; Curry has the edge in play, outshooting the Jumbos by 44 to 32)

Wesleyan 5 UMass-Dartmouth 2 (Wesleyan cruises to a 4-0 lead by midway through the 2nd period; scoring is well balanced and Wesleyan dominates the game territorially, outshooting UMD by 44-32; Glenn Stowell gets hist start of the season in net for the Cardinals)

Williams 5 Babson 2 (rookie Sean Dougherty gets his first start in net and acquits himself well, saving 28 of 30; 3 point nights (1-2-3) for two d-men (senior Justin Troiani and frosh Pete Mistretta))
