Middlebury 4 Bowdoin 2 (Panthers still have Bowdoin’s number as they pick up their 6th straight win over the Polar Bears in a well-played game in Brunswick, ME, and hand Bowdoin’s its first home loss of the season; not a surprising outcome given the Panthers’ recent surge and the Polar Bears’ Middlebury curse;  the game winner is a Drolet shortie in the second period that breaks a 2-2 tie; Strauss adds an insurance goal early in the third period; Yanchek is stellar in net for Middlebury and seems to have become the no. 1 netminder for the Panthers; here’s a link to some more detail on the game from the Bowdoin website; Polar Bears probably have the most talent in the NESCAC but need to crack that Middlebury nut if they are to go any place)

Hamilton 10 UNE 7 (wild penalty-filled game in Biddeford as UNE scores 3 extra attack goals in the third period; check the boxscore out here; 6 points for Houk and 4 for DiMare; Hamilton continues its climb in the standings but can’t be happy with the performance of its top 2 goalies, who collectively gave up 6 of the 7 UNE goals)

Amherst 3 USM 0 (Lord Jeffs salvage a couple of points from their weekend in Maine with a win over a weak USM team; Anderson gets the shut out; Amherst breaks a 1-goal game open late in the third period with 2 goals)

Colby 6 Williams 3 (a disastrous weekend in Maine for the chippy Ephs, who pick up 30 minutes in misconduct penalties, with Contini receiving a game misconduct in the first period; Doherty with the game winner late in the second period; Crinion picks up 3 points for the Mules; Purdy has a rare off night in net for Williams and gives way to Donnelly with about 13 minutes to go in the game after surrendering 5 goals; Colby dominates the game territorially, outshooting Williams by a margin of 36-23; McKinney gets the win for the Mules; here’s a link to a write up of the game on the Williams’ website)

Castleton 6 Conn College 2 (the Spartans continue to sparkle and move into a first place tie with Norway in the ECAC East as the Babson Beavers tie the Cadets, 4-4)

St. Anselm 6 Wesleyan 2 (the Cardinals complete bad weekend in New Hampshire with no points in a very chippy game as Wesleyan wracks up 54 PIMs, with many coming in the third period after the game got away from Wesleyan, and St A’s has 13 PP opportunities – no wonder St. A’s outshot Wesleyan by 48-31)

Trinity 5 NEC 4 (Trinity finds some goals as Shellington gets the game winner at 19:59 of the third period; the Bantams jump out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period and manage to stave off NEC’s comeback attempt with Shellington’s last second goal; a 3-point game for McCarthy)

Skidmore 6 Tufts 2 (Phillips gest the start and the loss for the Jumbos; Trevor John gets a game disqualification for fighting in the third period and will be required to sit out the next game)
