Scores:

Middlebury 4 Amherst 1 (Panthers regain their footing – the obituaries are premature; the Jeffs’ stay in first lasts less than 24 hours; the Panthers take the lead in the first on Griffin and Strauss goals and hold the Jeffs at bay the rest of the way, padding the lead with a second-period Drolet goal and a Knelman empty netter late in the third; BonDurant is superb in net as he saves all but one of 40 SOGs; here’s a link to a more detailed account of the game)

Bowdoin 6 St. Mike’s 5 (Polar Bears need to tighten up their D/goaltending but a win’s a win; sophs Toczylowski (2-1-3) and Weiniger (2-0-2) power the Bears to a hard-fought win in which they trail St. Mike’s in the third period; Bowdoin outshoots the Purple Knights by 47-31 and gets the win by scoring 3 goals in a 40-second span in the third period; frosh Messina is a little erratic in net, giving up 2 quick goals in the first period and saving 26 of 31 SOGs; Bowdoin’s PP continues to be lethal as they score on 3 of 8 opportunities)

Hamilton 6 Williams 3 (continued resurgence in Clinton, NY, while the Ephs thud to earth this weekend; Hefferman strong in net for Hamilton with 25 saves; Williams in the game until well into the third period (a McGhee goal pulls the Eph to within 1 of the Continentals at the 10:09 mark of the third) but Hamilton puts the game away with 3 third period goals, including an empty netter; frosh continue to sparkle for Hamilton as Anderson and Williams both have 3-point afternoons; go here for further detail from the Hamilton website)

Conn College 4 Babson 3 (the Camels are quietly sneaking up on the rest of the NESCAC, moving into a tie with Williams for third place, with a win over Babson on the road; Capuano scores 2 goals, including the game winner in the third period, and Margolin is strong in net, saving 36 of the 39 shots that come his way as the Camels are outshot by the Beavers, 39-23; here’s a link to a good write up of the game from the Babson website)

UMass-Boston 7 Tufts 2 (frosh Brian Phillips has a rough debut in net for the Jumbos, giving up 5 goals in the third period to the under-rated Beacons in Boston)

Trinity 2 Skidmore 1 (the Bantams get a much needed W in Hartford and climb out of the cellar)

Castleton 3 Wesleyan 2 (Castleton takes the lead in the first and never gives it up in a game that was a tense 1-goal game most of the way; Stowall gets the start in net; frosh Tasiopoulos assists both of the Cardinal goals)

Norwich 7 Colby 2 (Colby hangs in there for the first 2 periods but the powerful Cadets pour it on with 4 goals in the third; Hartigan scores both Colby goals; go here for lots of details about the game from the Norwich website)
